Mazda MX5 Miata Tuning

It took me a while to get around to completing these races however these past two days I’ve been working on them. I managed to gold all three events however I really had to dig deep to achieve that.

Here are the setups I used to win each race. I used some suggestions from forum members and some of my own knowledge to arrive at these setups.

Subaru WRX STi ’10
  • Oil Change
  • All engine and aero mods – power down to allowable limit and use mid-range RPM turbo (better acceleration out of corners)
  • All weight reduction mods and torsion bar
  • Ballast Amount 14kg
  • Ballast Position 50
  • Downforce  0/17
  • Transmission  310 km/h
  • Front LSD  28, 58, 31
  • Rear LSD  7, 55, 11
  • Torque Split  50/50
  • Ride Height  -25/-25
  • Spring Rate  12.0/8.0
  • Extension  9/8
  • Compression  7/7
  • ARB  1/5
  • Camber  2.5/0.2
  • Toe -0.20/-0.10
  • Brake Balance 4/10

First lap I ran a high 1’36 the rest were borderline 1’34′s

Lotus Elise 111R ’04
  • Oil Change
  • All engine and aero mods – power down to allowable limit and use low-range RPM turbo (better acceleration out of corners)
  • All weight reduction mods and torsion bar

Anyone recommend a good traveling Mechanic...

...north of Atlanta? Specifically Kennesaw. Have a '79 project Corvette with a freshly rebuild engine but alas, I don't know the ins and outs of carburetor tuning. Not exactly the kind of thing you can google and then do like a pro. Even a mechanic in the Kennesaw area that would take time on a Sunday or Saturday to look at it. Any suggestions?

More than one reason

The brake caliper may be located in several locations for reasons other than braking. The calipers must be located not to interfere with suspension travel, performance cars may need duct work for cooling, the brakes have mass, so the position has an effect on center of gravity and may effect the tuning of race cars. There is probably also a desire not to have them low on the front to avoid impact from debris.
On the Corvette example, they have big brakes so there is limited space for the brakes and suspension mounting points.
