The seller states that this 1965 Datsun 1500 Roadster was restored “with overseas export in mind, ” and has also had its drivetrain swapped with a later 2000 model. The third seat is a rare feature only found on the first 6905 1500 Roadsters produced, and along with the lower windshield and clean lines thanks to no headrests, help makes this early car look like the designers intended. Find it here on eBay in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Black is a flattering shade on any body, but it works especially well on these early Fairladies. The restored hard top is included, which is a slick feature not often seen on the model. Stock steel wheels with hubcaps are another rare sight, as it seems that about 90% of roadsters wear either Panasports or wheels from some other Datsun model. We’d run these while scouring the forums and eBay for some real Libres.
The interior is in clean shape and we like the factory wheel and early-style dash. A similar third seat was also offered in the Mercedes SL’s, but we aren’t sure who had it first. Maybe we’ll let the MGB guys moderate that discussion.
