Cleanest Around: 1973 Opel GT

Alfa Romeo Brera, Alfa Romeo

This 1973 Opel GT looks to be one of the finest examples we have seen for sale in quite some time. The seller states it has only 31k original miles and is all original except for paint, which is said to be a high-quality job done 3 years ago. Find it for sale here on eBay in Marietta, Georgia.

The paint looks to have great depth in the photos, and compared to the 1970s gold and orange these came in, the medium yellow color works quite well. There is some overspray around the tail pipes, but otherwise this job looks pretty solid, and we applaud the seller including underbody photos.

Inside, the original wood steering wheel is intact, and the dash looks to be free of cracks. The overall condition of the interior is impressive – both seats almost look as though they’re fresh from the showroom. The small lever forward of the shifter is actually the control to operate the GT’s unique flip-over headlights.

Nice car but you need to change the timing belt with a new tensioner. the other deal is rust, plus the lower A- frame mount cracks alot. the brakes are easy to work on the rotors are cheap to replace as they use the same parts for other models the carb is a two barrel down draft weber and you can remove the choke plate from the second barrel for more airflow. the motors are interference fit, tha...s rust out and the bushings get cracked, I dont car what other folks think about them these are nice fast good handling cars, sorta like a poor mans alfa romeo, I used to work on both and raced fiats way back in my younger days, feel free to e-mail if you need any advice.

  • Avatar Johnny5 Automatic car window won't go up all the way, expensive to fix? How about trunk latch?
    Feb 21, 2011 by Johnny5 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I have an Alfa Romeo Spider, and having issues with the driver side automatic window. Once it's up, it will go down all the way, but when trying to put it up, it stops about 6 inches short. Would this be expensive to repair? How about to repair the trunk latch? I think a cable let loose, now the trunk won't open. Thanks

    • The mechanism could be jamming or you have a weak motor. Depending on whether or not you take it to a dealer you could be looking at around $500 to get both fixed. Your best bet is to call a shop, tell them your problem, and ask how much they want to fix it. Naturally at the dealer you'll probably pay double. The dealer should always be a last resort. It is for me.

    • It sounds as if you have lost the clips to one of your tracks. See there are little bitty holes in which clips fit into your window to keep it on track. Just go to your local auto parts store and they should be able to ex …nt. 1. There is liquid stuff you can buy to spray into the keyhole to defrost it if it is frozen shut, or, if the problem is more rust or such, then you can buy w-d 40 and spray it in the key hole and simply work with it.
