This 1969 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3 (Chassis 10901812000562) is offered on behalf of the grandson of the original owner and has 78k original documented miles. His grandfather drove the car as one of his primary vehicles until 1985 when he acquired a new 500SEL and sent the 6.3 to marque-expert Bob Platz for restoration. Platz did an engine rebuild, full respray, and new seat leather and padding at that time, and since then it has been a special occasion car and always garaged. In 2012 the car underwent another major overhaul including a comprehensive suspension, steering, and driveline rebuild. The seller says that the paint is spectacular and that the underside is very clean and rust free. It is available in Pennsylvania for $35k.
The seller says that the car has lived in both Pennsylvania and Florida and was not driven in salt or snow. It is finished in DB291 Dark Olive with tan leather, and the seller says that it has great gloss, no notable scratches, no door dings, and an incredible depth when the sun hits it. He does mention that there are a couple of tiny bubbles under the paint, one on the passenger rear door, one on the driver’s front fender, but states that both are far too small to warrant repainting. We like the deleted trunk badges, which make it more of a sleeper than a show-off. The bright work is original and has a consistent patina of being well cared-for… no pitting is present, just light surface scratches from being washed over the years.

Nice car but you need to change the timing belt with a new tensioner. the other deal is rust, plus the lower A- frame mount cracks alot. the brakes are easy to work on the rotors are cheap to replace as they use the same parts for other models the carb is a two barrel down draft weber and you can remove the choke plate from the second barrel for more airflow. the motors are interference fit, that means if you jump the timing belt or break it you blow the motor all to hell. valve adjustment is a bitch as they use shims between the camshafts and valve, but not hard if you have the right tools. the rear control arms rust out and the bushings get cracked, I dont car what other folks think about them these are nice fast good handling cars, sorta like a poor mans
