The Porsche he drives in the film is a 1957 Porsche 356 A Speedster, and according to imcdb.org the feedback is that the car is a replica, which makes sense since they crash it at one point. Some of the minute details of the car suggest a replica, but for the film it's enough to call it a 356 and even reference it in the film. I think it's great that he drives a Porsche, even if it's a fake. The premise is that he's a young, new doctor who gets placed in a rural hospital after his residency (or something like that, it's been awhile). So he quickly earns the nickname, Doc Hollywood. He flies into the town driving a super fancy car, especially for a place with more cows than people. The film is pretty descent, and the car pops up several times. If you can get over the fact that it's a replica, you'll really enjoy seeing this much Porsche in one film.

My favorite car was a 67 Sunbeam Alpine2006-08-23 10:50:30 by autotek
Got it in 68 with 12kmi.I put an Abarth exhaust onit.It had a hardtop for the winter and was warm and dry.In the spring I would take it off and drive with a tonneau cover so only the drivers area was open with the top down. The heater on full blast and I was comfortable.I put in a Blaupunkt AM/FM which was a bog deal back then.I has a bookshelf speaker for the rear seat.I would tune the radio in FM between stations and it would pick up the ignition system.I would accelerate with just the front speaker then at 4krpm turn on the rear speaker. It sounded like a jet taking off, especialy when I was stoned.
